Ted Moores and The Survival of the Wooden Canoe

Nobody has had more influence on the growth of wood strip canoes than Ted Moores of Bear Mountain Boats. His book CanoeCraft is one of the foundations of modern strip-built boats. Ted retired from boatbuilding a couple of years ago, but the impact he made continues. Ted's wife, Joan Barrett, has produced this very nice video commemorating Ted's work.

Ted Moores' legacy lies not just in the beautiful canoes he built but in his  commitment to preserving and advancing the craft by empowering others. By developing accessible techniques, extensively sharing his knowledge, and inspiring a global community of builders, Ted Moores played an indispensable role in the revival of wooden canoe building.
