John Harris (the owner of Chesapeake Light Craft ) sent me this print he picked up on one of his trips to Port Townsend, Washington. The picture is a painting called "Stood-Up" by Janne Matter, a local artist who finds inspiration in the local scenery including wooden boats. She painted this oil on canvas scene of the CLC display of kayaks, including my stitch and glue Night Heron. I really like the image and impressed with the other work shown on Janne's site.
This is not the first time the Night Heron has drawn the attention of artists. I had a whole class of water color students wandering around my class at the WoodenBoat School looking at the multicolored panels for inspiration. Maybe the use of color in a wooden boat is a unexpected and attracts attention. It was fun to see Janne's painting and I thank John for sending me a print. It will be framed and hanging proudly on my wall.
