My father made a kit kayak in the early 1970s. My brother being a few years older than me got dibs on using it whenever we went out for a family paddle. Being a younger brother I felt this was a grave injustice that had to be set right.

I am very excited to announce that I will be teaching a week-long on-the-water sea kayaking class in Maine this summer. If you have one of my designs, or you are interested in learning how to handle a sea kayak on the ocean, this is your chance to gain some great experience, while enjoying one of the prettiest places to paddle in the world.

Summer in Maine is not always sunny, but even when it isn't it is a great place to commune with boats. The Maine Boats Homes and Harbors Show in Rockland always has a diverse assortment of beatiful boats as well as everything from beach glass jewelry to diesel engines (something for everyone).
After teaching my class at the WoodenBoat School, I got a chance to head up to Blue Hill for some play time. There is a reversing falls that has a nice play wave popular with the whitewater crowd.
