Chesapeake Light Craft is once again hosting an open house at their shop in Annapolis, MD and a large gathering of boatbuilders at a park beach in Kent, MD. This is a great event to meet other builders, get tips on boatbuilding, show off your boat, see and try other boats, and generally have fun hanging out with like minded people.
Friday Open House
Friday is an open house at the CLC Shop. Nick Schade with do a fiberglassing demonstration, Eric Schade will do a boat or paddle building demonstration, David Fawley will demonstrate varnishing, and John Harris will give a talk about his amazing new Proa "Madness". You can also tour the shop and see their huge CNC machine cut kits.
The CLC crew will serve as chefs for a cookout, supplying hamburgs and picnic fair for hungry attendees.
Saturday at the Beach
Saturday the festivities go to Matapeake, a lovely park on Kent Island. There is a nice wide, sandy beach full of the whole CLC inventory of boats, plus many boats brought by attendees. You are free to try all the CLC boats and many attendees are happy to let you try their boat. It is great fun to see so many small boats in one place and watch people out on the water enjoying the day.
Awards will be provided to the prettiest and best built boats.
Registration
The event is free, but please register with CLC to help them judge how much food is needed. If you don't register in time, come anyway but check in when you get there.
