In this class we will build two of Nick's popular boat designs. Each boat is quite different cedar strip boats. Nymph is a sweet little double paddle canoe. It is lightweight and fun to paddle. The Night Heron is an elegant sea kayak. These two boats will give people a well rounded experience in using the woodstrip method of constructing small boats.
If you have a wooden kayak, you really need a wooden paddle. In this 5 evening class students will build their own laminated wood kayak paddle. The paddle can be feathered or unfeathered. We will glue up the wood, cut the blade pieces, glue them to the shaft and shape the blades.

NOTE: If you are thinking of signing up for this class, please do so early. I will need at least 3 weeks notice to be sure to have enough material prepared for everyone. - Thanks, Nick
A hand made wooden kayak is not truly finished until you have put your first scratch in it. The New England Rough Water Symposium is a chance to see to it that your boat is well and fully complete along with few scratches to prove it. While "rough water" may sound scary, this is a good event for a wide range of paddlers from the novice through experienced paddlers. It will give you a chance to learn from top paddler how to use your boat to full effect.
