I am privileged to take over the reins for this class from Ted Moores who had taught at the WoodenBoat School for 17 years. Ted is a godfather to all those who now build small boats using the strip-planked, fiberglass and epoxy method. He started this class at the WoodenBoat School building two canoes. I will continue the tradition this year, using his forms for the "Bob's Special" and "Freedom 17" canoes.
In this class we will work in teams to build these two boats, learning about setting up the forms, bending stems, stripping up the hulls, fairing and sanding, fiberglassing and finishing. The two boats will be raffled off to two lucky recipients for the cost of materials to bring home.
This is a great opportunity to learn all the skills required to build your own canoe or kayak, in a fun environment and beautiful location. The WoodenBoat School is located on the water in Brooklin, Maine. They have room and board available at very reasonable prices, their fleet of small boats is available for student use in one of the most beautiful bodies of water anywhere.
Registration for this class is handled through the WoodenBoat School.
