The S&G Guillemot was made in 1999 and was my favorit
since then. Now the Night Heron is my choice.
The seat is made from a mold I took from my old seat.
My Night Heron was finished in 2010 but had her maiden trip in March 2011. It is the high deck version. Big enough to load camping gear for more than a week.
Totally build in black poplar which is very light coulored. The accent strips are from hardwood floor boards. I don't know the type of wood. It was very brittle and hard.
The seat is made in epoxy. I took a mold from the seat of my Derrick Hutchkinson designed Baidarka Explorer (which is not a baidarka at all).
March 2011. The Night Heron did not see water before.
I was asked how I got it watertight with all those small planks.
